Episode three sees actress Romala Garai uncover Shakespeare’s "problem play” about sexual corruption that, for two centuries, was considered too racy to be produced on the English stage.
Garai played Isabella in ''Measure for Measure'' at the Young Vic and has performed internationally with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She believes this tale of harassment and the abuse of male power is the best The Bard ever wrote.
In search of source material, she visits a church near Stratford-upon-Avon. At London’s Globe Theatre, Garai deconstructs a pivotal confrontation in the play. Abigail Rokison-Woodall of the Shakespeare Institute details the bawdier side of London at that time and draws parallels with the high-profile sex scandals of today.
