Femi Kuti & The Positive Force at Nuits de Fourvière Festival
Jazz72 min2024G, U
Set in the ancient Roman amphitheater of Lyon, Femi Kuti and his Positive Force ensemble fire up the Nuits de Fourvière Festival. The London-born Afrobeat star fronts a massive lineup packed with brass, percussion, and high-energy dancers. Moving between alto saxophone and Hammond organ, Kuti delivers tight solos before leaping across the stage in non-stop dance. While honoring his father Fela Kuti's legacy, Femi brings a sweeter, warmer vocal style to his socio-political anthems. His music pairs infectious dance rhythms with sharp commentary. Songs like "Sorry Sorry" and "You Can't Fight Corruption With Corruption" combine driving slap bass and snaking horn lines to turn hard truths into an unforgettable live party.
