My Role, My Life

The world is not so black and white in “My Role, My Life,” a short film that sets traditional Chinese opera in conversation with contemporary dance. As these two worlds collide in an ordered play of shifting frames, two women ignite new sparks in the dialogue between ancient and modern China. This juxtaposition of virtuosity and aesthetics leads to a seamless merging—they’re not so different after all.
