Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
The UK’s leading Early Music ensemble, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE), is renowned for its historically informed performances and creatively filmed concerts.
Founded in 1986 by a group of visionary musicians, the OAE has developed a distinctive approach to its repertoire. Performing on replicas of period instruments, the OAE offers audiences a rare chance to experience music as it would have sounded when first composed. Collaborating with eminent conductors like Sir Simon Rattle and Sir Andras Schiff, and actors such as Rory Kinnear, the OAE brings their inventive concerts to London’s Royal Festival Hall and performs each summer as one of Glyndebourne's resident orchestras.
