Gauguin: A Dangerous Life
Art documentary
Director Luca Severi explores the life and work of award-winning photographer to the stars Douglas Kirkland, who, for over sixty years, pushed the boundaries of pop culture.
Born in Fort Erie, Canada, in 1957, Kirkland began his career as an apprentice to acclaimed photographer Irving Penn. Five years later, he was put on an assignment for Look magazine to spotlight Coco Chanel and would go on to take some of the most iconic images of Marilyn Monroe.
Consistently at the cutting edge of photojournalism and film portraiture, his work features in the collections of London’s National Portrait Gallery, the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
"That Click" includes contributions from some of the biggest stars in music, fashion, and movies, including Sharon Stone, Nicole Kidman, Herbie Hancock, and Baz Luhrmann.
