Featuring memorable songs like Song to the Moon, ''Rusalka,'' filmed at Madrid’s Teatro Real, is an enchanting tale of love, longing, and the Little Mermaid.
Dvorak’s best-known opera is inspired by a Czech folktale, Undine - more commonly known to modern audiences as The Little Mermaid. The story of a water-nymph who longs to abandon her aquatic kingdom to become a human, the beloved tale is brought to life through dance and movement. Born a water-nymph, Rusalka is in love with a human Prince. Choosing the Prince may offer her a life far away from the oppressive lake ruled over by her controlling and destructive father, but was it the right choice?
