“Sir Peter Wright's historic 1984 production is widely considered the definitive version of this festive classic, balancing the whimsical fairytale elements of E.T.A. Hoffmann's original story with the rigorous demands of classical ballet. Filmed at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, this recording captures the grandeur of one of the world's most storied stages, where the venue's history and architecture deepen every performance.”
