This sparkling new production of The Nutcracker from English National Ballet invites audiences of all ages into a magical world where imagination reigns.
Set on a Christmas Eve in Edwardian London, Clara's adventures begin at Drosselmeyer's Sweets and Delights Emporium, where an enchanted Nutcracker doll sends her spiraling into a magical world of sweets and delights, with a brand-new cast of characters.
In this delightful production, Artistic Director Aaron S. Watkin and Olivier Award-winner Arielle Smith reimagine the Land of Sweets with a playful twist. Look out for charming Licorice Allsorts, Buttercream Roses, Makivnyk (a Ukrainian delicacy filled with swirls of poppy seeds), and of course, Sugar Plums. Designer Dick Bird brings each sweet to life with costumes and sets that will make your mouth water.
Praised as “vibrant” (Financial Times) and “astoundingly pretty” (The London Standard), this Nutcracker is a wonderful new take on a timeless classic, performed live to Tchaikovsky’s beloved score by English National Ballet Philharmonic.
