Choreographer Marcos Morau brings Ruven Afanador’s surreal portraits Ángel Gitano and Mil Besos to life in an otherworldly collaboration with the Ballet Nacional de España.
Filmed at Madrid’s Teatro Real, identity, desire, and cultural mythology collide as over 30 dancers fracture and reform beneath Bernat Jansà’s razor-sharp lighting, their bodies framed by Silvia Delagneau’s monochrome costumes. Juan Cristóbal Saavedra’s score fuses flamenco guitar, electronic dissonance, and Easter drums into a soundscape where memory begins to unravel.
Morau’s choreography dismantles tradition, conjuring a surreal, sensual Spain pulsing with fractured legacy.
