Celebrated around the world for its daring contemporary style and fearless physicality, Ballet BC presents a powerful three-part program that moves from quiet intimacy to primal instinct. Featuring three distinct choreographic voices, this program explores how we connect to ourselves, each other, and the wider world.
The program begins with "Silent Tides," choreographed by Ballet BC Artistic Director Medhi Walerski, set to an original score by Adrien Cronet with music by J.S Bach. Created as a duet during social distancing, the work explores human connection.
"Heart Drive" by Dutch choreographers Imre and Marne van Opstal, is full of raw intensity that confronts limits, taboos, and the body's capacity for love, pleasure and desire.
The program ends with "PASSING" by renowned Swedish choreographer Johan Inger. This sweeping and emotionally charged work is inspired by the climate crisis and human dependence on nature. Set to music by Amos Ben-Tal, Erik Enocksson, and Moondog, this is a powerful finale.
This is Ballet BC at its most expansive and expressive. From the restrained intimacy of "Silent Tides" to the visceral drive of "Heart Drive" and the theatrical power of "PASSING" this triple bill is a compelling introduction to one of today's most exciting contemporary dance companies.
