The modern classic A Kestrel for a Knave by Barry Hines and subsequent cult film Kes by Ken Loach celebrate their half century. To coincide with this seminal moment, Barnsley born choreographer, Jonathan Watkins (Winner ‘Best Classical Choreography’ at The National Dance Awards Critic Circle) reimagines the original novel weaving dance, projections, puppetry and music through the performance to create ‘a family-friendly Kes to rival War Horse’. A staged production premiered at Sheffield Theatres (2014). Now, to coincide with the 50th anniversary, a new version has been created and reimagined for screen.
